Indian Institute of Technology, Patna’s three-day technical fest, Anwesha, came to a close on Sunday on a colourful note.

Siddhanth, a techie from Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Patna, was declared Mr Anwesha and Anjali, from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna, Miss Anwesha.

They were judged on beauty and brains. Kanisk from IIT Patna said: “The contestants cleared three rounds. After giving a short note on their achievements, they faced a group discussion and then interviews. Judges were mostly senior students from IIT Patna.”

Sunday’s main event was Theatrix — a drama contest in which NIT Patna teams won first and second prize. In Heel Turn, a dance competition, Sangeeta Roy and Sukhdev from IIT Patna won in the group category and Ananya from BIT Patna in the solo dance competition. Like on Saturday, a rock band performed on Sunday too. The chief guest on the last day was Bollywood star and local MP Shatrughan Sinha.

The three-day extravaganza had kicked off on Friday. Patna High Court Justice Navneeti Prasad Singh inaugurated the event where IIT Patna director A.K. Bhowmick was guest of honour. A classical dance performance by celebrated Odissi dancer Kavita Dwibedi followed the inauguration. This was the fifth edition of the tech fest of which The Telegraph and t2 were media partners. Fest coordinator Prakhar Kothari said: “Through the fest we wanted to promote creativity. Towards this goal we had organised Darpan, a wall painting competition, and a science exhibition.” Students from nearby schools prepared scientific models.

The other high points were technical events such as aqua soccer (robots playing football in water), Romantronix (LED display event), Verilog Reloaded (programme language event), Farrago (circuit design event) and Titans Unleashed (Events of two robotics).

Techno India University from Calcutta won first prize and IIT-Patna second prize in aqua soccer. In stock market and B-quiz, techies from IIT Patna were declared the winners. In B-quiz, Rakshit and Ashwani won the day for IIT Patna while BIT emerged runner-up.
