The court of additional sessions judge (II), Sachidanand Singh, on Monday acquitted suspended RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav for lack of evidence in a kidnapping case.
The court on Monday pronounced the judgement after hearing only Yadav, as the lawyers didn't report to work owing to the death of a colleague, Satya Narayan Jaiswal. Pappu's defending lawyer Anup Kumar Sharan was present in the court but he did not appear.
Pappu is an RJD MP from Madhepura. However, he has been suspended from the party for six years and in June he floated a new political party called Jan Kranti Adhikar Morcha.
His name appeared in the case during police investigation and his name was added to the case of kidnapping and criminal conspiracy lodged under Khazanchi Haat police station of the district, around 350km northeast of Patna.
