Patna, June 12: Scoring well in board exams has its obvious benefits, the most immediate being that students with good grades in CBSE Class X get direct admission in Plus Two.

For others, there is the hurdle of admission tests before they can continue with their studies in Class XI. Sources said those students who had opted for the school-based summative assessment (SA-2) could also bypass entrance exams. They may also not be required to pay any admission fee, as they will continue in the same school. However, those who took the board-based SA-2 may have to take the admission tests.

The admission test at St Michael’s High School is scheduled for June 15 for students of both CBSE and other boards. The school has already conducted a test for students from the ICSE board. Those who missed out on the earlier test can take this one.

All CBSE students will have to take the test, as the school authorities feel that many students have got a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 10.

There is, however, a slight poser for the students as Notre Dame Academy has also scheduled its exam on the same date. The time of test at the two schools is also the same — 8am to 9.30am.

Notre Dame Academy has 180 seats and would admit girls who have passed CBSE Class X exam and ICSE. Sources said that the admissions would be held on June 18, 19 and 20 for all those who qualify in the written test.

Those who wish to take admission in Gyan Niketan will have to take a written test on June 18. The results will be declared on June 20. D.K. Mukherjee, the principal of the school, said: “Students who took the school-based SA-2 will get direct admission. However, students who did not perform too well in the board exam will have to take an admission test. Certain criteria have been set.

“In order to take admission in the science stream, students who have scored above 23 and less than 28 in mathematics, science and English will have to take the test. Those, who have scored 28 and above, will get direct admission. For students of the commerce stream, those who have got between 20 and 24 points in social science, English, mathematics and language II would have to take the test. Those with more than 24 points would get direct admission. Humanities students must have a score of more than 17 points in English, social science and language II to get direct admission.”

Girls have an advantage at DAV BSEB. For direct admission, they need to have a CGPA of only 9.6, while boys need a CGPA of 9.8. CBSE students will have to take an admission test on June 21, and the results will be announced on June 25. Students of other boards will have to take admission tests on June 14. The results will be out on June 18. Students, who want to pursue their Plus Two in Patna Central School, will have to take a test on June 15. The results will be declared the next day.
