Patna: The entrance test for Central University South Bihar (CUSB) will be held under Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) .

This time, the university is taking admission into six additional courses - masters in business administration, masters in social work, MCom, MSc (physics), MSc (chemistry) and MA (history) - taking the number of courses it offers to 45. That includes undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, PhD and others.

Mohammed Mudassir Alam, the CUSB public relations officer, said: "For the next academic session, the varsity has launched six postgraduate courses, taking up the total number of postgraduate courses to 24 a part from three undergraduate courses and 18 subjects at the PhD level."

Cucet is conducted for 11 central universities, while the total applications received is around 95,000 of which nearly 23,000 students have applied for CUSB alone. Last year, the university decided to admit students through Cucet so that they could apply from different parts of the country.

The students too are excited about the new courses.

Anil Kumar, an undergraduate physics student at Patna University, said: "I have applied for an MSc in physics at CUSB, as studying at CUSB will be beneficial for students. The shortage of teachers will force the university let us focus more on research work than in state universities."

University sources said it plans to shift to its permanent campus to Panchanpur Gaya by the next academic session.

It has decided to go for an expansion mode. The construction work of the new campus at Panchanpur is continuing on a war footing.

The new campus will be built on 300 acres and will feature zero discharge in compliance with the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (Griha) - five norms rating. The new campus will have small water bodies/fountains, rainwater harvesting/recharging ground water and sewage treatment plant, through which water will be recycled. Also the campus will use solar energy and bio mass fuel for street lighting and water heating.
