Counter power for consumers

South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (SBPDCL) on Tuesday launched a slew of new services for its consumers in Patna.

To provide better and quick services, especially with regard to bill payment and correction, energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav on Tuesday inaugurated centralised facilitation centre for the four lakh consumers of Patna Electricity Supply Undertaking (Pesu).

People can rectify their bill anomalies and load enhancement at the facilitation centre — located at the power company’s headquarters at Vidyut Bhavan near the Income Tax roundabout.

The minister inaugurated the website of SBPDCL — www.sbpdcl.co.in — besides flagging off mobile bill collection vans, kiosks for bill payments and payment through point of sale (POS) machines for SBI consumers.

The consumers can lodge complaints on the site, can send their suggestions to the managing director, besides making online payment. The site would have latest information, besides rules, regulations, circular, transfer, notification among other things.

Initially, a mobile bill collection van would move in different parts of the city on a given day between 10am and 4pm. (See chart)

Terming consumer “a king” who has to be provided better services at any cost, SBPDCL managing director Palka Sahni said: “We have started several services to provide better facilities to consumers. We have also started the Know Your Consumer scheme under which consumers have to furnish basic details, including mobile phone numbers and e-mail IDs, so that the company can inform them necessary information through text messages and mails.”

Energy department secretary and chairman and managing director of Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd Sandeep Poundrik was present on the occasion.
