The website of Gopalganj police.

Gopalganj, Jan. 5: Gopalganj district police, it seems, are unaware of its own doings.

The irony is that the police are still in search of criminals, who are either lodged in jail for months or have surrendered. At least, the Gopalganj district police website says so.

The website of the district police is misleading, as anyone who logs on to gopalganjpolice.bih.nic.in, would find a few names under the “Wanted Persons” link and believe that they are still at large.

In fact, it is not true. The Gopalganj district police have a dedicated website but some of its content has not been updated. The name of Satish Pandey tops the list of wanted criminals. He is said to be absconding on the website. Pandey is wanted in the murder of minister Brij Bihari Prasad, a sub-inspector and many cases of kidnappings.

The website also mentions that the police and CBI have announced prize money of Rs 2 lakh and 50,000 respectively for his arrest. But, the irony is, Pandey is behind bars for months now. He is presently lodged in Bhagalpur Central Jail. Pandey surrendered on April 20, 2010 before the district magistrate and superintendent of police Kuldeep Narayan and K.S. Anupam.

Another wanted criminal Suresh Chowdhary was arrested on July 9, 2009 and an AK-47 was recovered from him but his name too features in the list of Wanted Persons.

Munna Mishra, another criminal, was arrested by the Gopalganj police from Patna and Lav Kush Sah was arrested from Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh with an AK-56.

However, both their names are listed as wanted.

The website even has one Ajay Rai, who is dead but is shown as absconder.

When asked Gopalganj superintendent of police K.S. Anupam said the police website has not been updated and an instruction to update it has been given.
