Contract dental surgeons in state-run hospitals have accused the government of stepmotherly treatment on regularising their services.

Members of Bihar State Contract Dental Association on Tuesday alleged the government was biased against contract dental surgeons.

They demanded to know why the government couldn’t abolish the provision of written examination for regularisation of services of contract dental surgeons working in state-run health institutions as it did for contract general practitioners.

Bihar State Contract Dental Association held a meeting at IMA Hall on Tuesday to chalk out the future course of action. Members of Bihar State Contract Doctors’ Association also took part in it.

Zaved Anwar, secretary-cum-spokesperson of the association, said: “There is no need of written examination. Let me tell those claiming that it would help to test the doctors’ efficacy in their jobs that contract dental surgeons are proving their mettle by treating hundreds of patients. We don’t get time to read books. How do we write the exam when we don’t get time to study?”
