Patna, Aug. 27: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) has taken strong exception to party leader and former MP Lovely Anand’s statement that it (the party) should clear its stand vis-à-vis any alliance with Nitish’s JD(U).

Anand on Monday had categorically asked the high command to make its stand clear as whether or not it would have any electoral alliance with the ruling JD(U) in the state. Anand, addressing a state-level meeting of Friends of Anand in the capital, virtually put a condition on the party to decide the issue of alliance.

If the party decides to align with JD(U), then she would be free to chalk out her own course of action, Anand had asserted. “The party has taken Anand’s statement very seriously as it is not in the party’s interest. No party leader would be allowed to cross the Lakshman rekha (limit) of discipline. No one can dictate terms to the party. If one has to remain in the party, one would have to abide by the party’s policy and leadership,” Prem Chandra Mishra, in-charge of media and communication department, told reporters here.
