Patna, May 31: The Congress is inclined towards going with the JDU in the upcoming Assembly elections if it has to choose between Nitish Kumar's party and Lalu Prasad's RJD.

"Rahul Gandhi has suggested the state party unit to go in alliance with the JDU, considering Nitish's image of a performing chief minister," a source in the party told The Telegraph .

Sources revealed that the Congress was shying off officially announcing Rahul's preference for the JDU for two reasons. First, the grand old party's primary concern is to stop the BJP from coming to power in Bihar. It is keeping a close watch on the negotiations between the JDU and the RJD,

Second, Rahul's suggestion has to be ratified by the Congress's national executive committee to make it official.
