Newcomers get a welcome pat
Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP), organised an induction programme for students of postgraduate diploma in management on July 24 on the institution premises.
The director of the south Asian division of Nielsen Corporation, Ranjesh Prasad, addressed the students. He shared his experience in the field of marketing communication.
Ranjesh has been engaged in marketing research in different sectors since 1984 and the CIMP students were delighted with the golden opportunity to interact with him.
He talked about a career in market research and the opportunities available in the present marketing scenario.
According to the guest, students with diverse backgrounds could get different career options based on their capabilities. He also highlighted modern consumer research for students, which included the modern Nielsen measuring system.
“This system is based on the watch and buy process. Watch includes television rating point (TRP) and Indian readership survey. Buy includes retail measurement system,” he told the students.
Kriti Singh, a fresher in the audience, said: “I was delighted to attend the programme. Ranjesh Prasad talked about marketing strategies with very interesting case studies so that we could understand the concepts better. He also focused on time management and discussed our future plans and scope in this field.”
Induction initiative
An induction programme was organised for freshers of traditional and vocational courses at Magadh Mahila College on July 25.
Principal Asha Singh, head of the history department Jayashree Mishra, head of the Hindi department Geeta Diwedi, head of the physics department Rani Azad and National Cadet Corps coordinator Pushplata briefed the students about the rules and regulations of the college, which included prohibition of mobile phones on the campus.
The student cabinet members also gave a brief introduction to the freshers. A short documentary was
shown to the newbies, which featured the campus, its history, head of different departments.
The principal urged the students to maintain the dignity of the college and participate in cultural and extra-curricular activities.
Nisha Chauhan, a fresher in the commerce department, said: “The teachers, non-teaching employees, seniors and cabinet members are very supportive. I am happy about the ban on mobile phones on campus. It hampers class and studies.”
Another student, Sayoni, from the English department, said the college had developed since her sister’s
graduation a couple of years ago.
Freshers’ fiesta
St Xavier’s College and St Xavier’s College of Management and Technology, Patna, organised a joint freshers’ day function on July 20.
The new students were introduced to the teaching and administrative employees of the college. The function began with a prayer song and a Sanskrit chant.
The Rector, Father Joseph Thadavanal SJ, addressed the gathering and asked the students to be ace achievers.
In his welcome address, the principal of St Xavier’s College, Father T. Nishaant, said students of St Xavier’s College and St Xavier’s College of Management and Technology were trained in such a way that they are able to convert their dreams into reality.
He also explained the significance of the Jesuit education to the students and welcomed them to the global Xavier family.
Senior superintendent of police Vikas Vaibhav, who was the chief guest, also spoke on the need for youths to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies for a better society.
