Clashes mar varsity elections

Muzaffarpur: Activists of students' organisations contesting union polls indulged in violence at Langat Singh College and Ramdayalu Singh College on Sunday.

The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University conducted students' union elections at four post-graduate departments and 39 constituent colleges in several districts of north Bihar. The results will be declared on Monday.

According to university chief election officer Ashok Kumar Srivastava, except a few sporadic incidents, the elections passed off peacefully.

The elections at Munshi Singh College in Motihari and Ramdayalu Singh College in Muzaffarpur were cancelled owing to adverse reports. Police said activists of Vishwavidyala Sangharsh Morcha and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad engaged in fisticuffs at Ramdayalu Singh College.
