Charity, fun hand in hand

Patna, Jan. 23: Rotary Club Patna today organised a winter carnival at Rotary Bhavan to raise money for charity.

Inaugurating the fete, Vijoy Kumar, chief general manager, BSNL, Bihar circle, said: “I wish this to be a grand success. I wish Rotary Patna, the oldest Rotary Club in Bihar, success in all its future efforts.”

The event was open for both Rotarians and non-Rotarians. The members even stood in queue to pay for their entry passes, making their participation more meaningful. S.K. Sahay, a member of Rotary Club, said: “I am very happy to see the non-Rotarians having as much fun as us. This adds to the purpose of charity.”

The fete, which started at 2pm and went on till 8pm, had lots of fun events stored for the participants. Competitions including matka phor, wheel of fortune, car racing for children, lucky seven, basketball and housie kept the guests engaged all day long.

While for some, the day meant charity, for others, it was a chance to be away from the normal grind of life. Anjali Pandey, a students of Class VIII, said she came to the event with her friends to have fun. Adarsh Kumar (11), who took part in the matka phor competition, said: “Though I could not win, I would like to try my luck the next time.”
