Patna, March 1: Lions Club of Patna will organise Car Rally 2011 with an aim to promote education of girls.
The theme of this year’s rally is “Progress of the girl child”. The 7th Indian Oil Femina Car Rally will start at 7.30am on March 6.
At a news meet held today, the immediate district governor and the co-ordinator of the event, Nanda Garg, said: “The rally will begin on March 6 from the Indian Oil Petrol Pump, Gasoline, on Boring Road and will end at Pragbodhi. The award ceremony will be held on March 8 at Hotel Maurya.”
Garg added: “The rally will end near Durgeshwar Temple, at Pragbodhi. Through the rally, we want to promote tourism too.”
Garg said the entry forms are available at Gasoline, Boring Road, Steel Wheel (JK Tyres Showroom), Frazer Road Rangoli, Bombay Dyeing showroom, near Samrat Hotel. The last date of registration is March 4. The vehicle scrutiny will be done on March 5 in front of Twin Towers between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
Sandeep Makkar, the deputy-general manager, said: “There are three categories — all-women, couples and all men.”
S.K. Paul, the area manager, JK Tyres, said: “The first prize is Rs 12,000 for the all-women event and Rs 10,000 each for couples’ and men’s teams.”
The president of the club, Shikha Sen Sahay, said: “The funds will be utilised to educate the girl child.”
