Patna, Aug. 6: The CAG report on the Indian Railways is an eye opener and a reminder for the Centre that there is an urgent need to redeem the largest public sector undertaking, BJP MLC and Bihar vice-president Sanjay Jha has said.

“The (CAG) report on the Indian Railways is an eye-opener for the people of the country as well as the UPA of the urgent need to redeem the largest public sector undertaking in the world of the grim irregularities that have plagued it since the days of Lalu Prasad as the Union railway minister,” Jha said.

Taking a dig at the sit-in protest by RJD in Patna today, he said such a dharna is a pre-meditated move by Laluji to divert public attention from the charges levelled against him by the CAG.

The CAG report has blamed Lalu for projecting a cash and surplus of Rs 88,669 crore from 2004-2005 to 2008-2009 when the net revenue surplus was only Rs 34,506 crore. “This inflated projection is learnt to have been achieved by Lalu through devious manipulation of accounting projection systems,” he said.

He added that the CAG report is a clear proof of a deliberate attempt by Lalu to misuse his office as the Union railway minister.
