The dilapidated NH-80 might finally get some attention after chief minister Nitish Kumar, believably, lost his cool travelling just 2km.

He was scheduled to travel the entire 35km from Tarapur to Bhagalpur by road at the end of his Seva Yatra. But, because of some technical reasons, he air-dashed to Bhagalpur. Sources said officials deliberately changed the plan to deny Nitish a bumpy ride. But, despite the precautions, he ultimately had to touch NH-80 to cover the 2km from Bhagalpur airport to the circuit house.

State health minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey, who accompanied Nitish, said: “The chief minister asked me about the road condition and I shared all Bhagalpur traffic woes with him.”

S.N. Singh, superintending engineer, NH-80, Bhagalpur division, said repair work began in March but ditches resurfaced after heavy rain.
