Muzaffarpur, March 4: A team of forensic experts today inspected areas in and around the Chandoli High School under Belsand police station of Sitamarhi district to find out clues related to the recent murder of two construction company officials.
Suspected rebels had shot dead two officials of SP Singhla Construction Ltd — project manager Gaya Baksh Singh and engineer Vikas Mishra — on March 1. Police lodged an FIR on the basis of the verbal statement of Ramadhin Pandey, an engineer with the company who was injured in the attack and is at present recuperating at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) here.
The five-member team of forensic department from the police headquarters examined the stains of blood, the SUV that was carrying the engineers and empty cartridges found at the crime spot. They also recorded a video footage of the area.
Sitamarhi superintendent of police Vivek Kumar said the rebels had used sophisticated rifles and two pistols in the attack on the officials of the construction company.
“Even the bullets that injured Pandey were shot from a sophisticated pistol,” the officer added.
SKMCH deputy superintendent Dr Sunil Kumar Shahi told The Telegraph: “Pandey is out of danger and his condition is gradually improving.”
The Sitamarhi police have launched a manhunt in the bordering areas of Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur and Sheohar to arrest the rebels.
Sources in the Sitamarhi police told The Telegraph they were also planning to take gangster, Mukesh Kumar, who is lodged in Motihari Central Jail in connection with his close links with the Maoists, on remand.
