Seventeen fifth-year students at the Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) took the first step towards their work career by sitting for a written test and interview conducted by law firm QuisLex on Monday.
QuisLex provides legal support to corporate legal departments, law firms and legal practitioners and has been a regular recruiter at CNLU. On the first day of campus placements, 17 of 62 final-year students appeared for a written test followed by interviews.
The students looked confident after taking the written test.
Shailesh Anand, a fifth-year CNLU student, said: “The written exam was good as most of the questions were from the syllabus and tested one’s English.” He said it was always better for any graduate pursing professional course to sit for written test and interview of different companies.
Another student, preferring anonymity, said: “It’s good that we have got the opportunity to try our luck for a job in a reputable company such as QuisLex. But I would still prefer to wait till the end of the recruitment season to clinch a better offer. The screening process at QuisLex would take time. We are ready to sit for written exams and interviews for companies that offer us better prospect in this tremendously competitive job market.”
QuisLex had offered an annual package of Rs 6 lakh to CNLU students in the last campus placement season.
Few more companies and law firms would visit the institute for campus placements. From September 15 to 19, another law firm, Pangea3, would visit the institute for campus recruitments.
“Pangea3, a legal outsourcing services provider with headquarters in New York City and Mumbai, has also visited CNLU earlier for campus recruitment. For any law student, who wants to make a career in law firms, Pangea3 is what Wipro and Infosys are to IT students,” said CNLU placement coordinator Ajay Kumar.
On September 21, Cuts International (Consumer Unity & Trust Society), which started its operations in Rajasthan in 1983 and deals with human rights cases, would visit the institute for campus recruitments.
According to sources, the companies scheduled to visit CNLU are likely to offer an annual package ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.
The campus recruitment will continue till April next year, giving students ample opportunities to students to pursue careers in law firms. The campus placement in other national law institutes start in September.
Apart from the abovementioned law firms, many others are likely to visit CNLU for campus recruitment. Some such firms, which are likely to visit the institute, include the New Delhi-based Anand & Anand and the Mumbai-based Wadia Ghandy & Co.
The institute also hopes that like in previous years, Shriram General Insurance, Vidhiii Partners and All India Reporters (AIR), DH Law Associates and the New Delhi-based Global Legal Associates and many more would visit the institute.
