Tejashwi slams BJP

Bhagalpur: Deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday slammed the BJP in Bhagalpur, saying they were obstructing development work undertaken by his government.

Tejashwi is on a two-day visit to Bhagalpur to holding divisional level workers meeting and to hold discussions with officials and engineers concerned to solve road and bridge problems in Bhagalpur.

News meet

Patna: Bihar Kala Sangh, a non-government organisation, on Wednesday organised a news meet to protest against the state government's decision to invite artistes from other states to perform at the Durga Puja cultural programme at Gandhi Maidan.

Loot

Aurangabad: A gang of armed criminals looted over Rs 5 lakh cash from Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank's Bhandwa branch, on Wednesday. Superintendent of police Satya Prakash said the criminals have also stolen the CCTV camera's hard disk.

Sentence

Patna: A local CBI court headed by special CBI judge Devraj Tripathi on Wednesday sentenced former Jamui railway station manager Birendra Kumar to four years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of forgery. Kumar was arrested and a number of forged railway tickets were seized from his possession during a raid on June 23, 2006.

Programme

Patna: RBI on Wednesday organized a financial awareness programme at Gaya for students of Gaya College. M.K.Verma, Regional Director, RBI, Patna, chaired the programme which had been organised to promote financial literacy among the youth.

Caution

Patna: Doctors at Paras Global Hospital, Darbhanga, on Wednesday - the eve of World Heart Day - cautioned against a dangerous lifestyle which has led to an increase in cardiovascular diseases among the youth.

Affiliation

Patna: The central board of secondary education has granted provisional affiliation to DY Patil Pushpalata Patil International School Patna till the secondary level for a period of three years.

Cop drive

Motihari: District police on Wednesday launched a special drive against those who frequently use vehicles with 'Police' and 'Press' signboards so they may commit crimes without raising suspicion, especially during the festival season. Superintendent of police Jitendra Rana instructed officers to conduct thorough checks and to seize vehicles whose occupants could not be identified.

Strike

Chhapra: Six employees of Jai Prakash University began a fast-unto-death on Wednesday in support of their two demands, which includes the withdrawal of university cadre employees' transfer from other colleges and regular payment of their salaries. The university employees have been on an indefinite strike since September 19.
