Festive diktat
Patna: The administration has decided that owing to just a day's gap between Dussehra and Muharram this year, loudspeakers can be used only up to 10pm with prior permission.
Licences for Durga Puja and Muharram processions will have to be obtained before September 30, and 30 additional CCTV cameras will be installed at Gandhi Maidan for the Dussehra programme on October 11, divisional commissioner Anand Kishor said after a review meeting on Tuesday for the festive season.
Dismissal
Patna: A division bench of the court of Chief Justice I.A. Ansari and Justice Anjana Mishra Patna dismissed a PIL directing the union government to implement a special package of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for Bihar on Tuesday, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his election campaign for the Bihar 2015 assembly election. The PIL was filed by a high court advocate Anil Kumar Mukund.
Sentence
Patna: Additional district and session's judge Ravindra Nath Tripathi on Tuesday sentenced Dharmendra Ravidas alias Tuntun Ravidas, a resident of Sukathiya village under the jurisdiction of Masauri police station, to life imprisonment in connection to a rape of ten-year-old girl on August 1, 2012. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 3 lakh.
College visit
Muzaffarpur: A team of Medical Council of India led by Bal Krishna on Tuesday visited Shri Krishna Medical college and Hospital to take stock of the examination of postgraduate courses taking place at the college.
Arrest
Bettiah: Sashastra Seema Bal jawans on Tuesday nabbed four women and seized around 29.5 kg of charas from them. The arrested women were travelling on the Raxaul-Delhi bound Satyagrah express train.
Coal fall
Patna: East central railways has registered a sharp fall in the uplift of coal in the current fiscal year, a press note issued by the railways stated on Tuesday. The total upliftment of coal in the month of September is 53.45 million tonne compared to 61.5 million tonne during the same period of 2015-16.
Bribe
Patna: Premchand Tiwary, a senior clerk in the office of Arwal circle officer, was arrested by vigilance sleuths on Tuesday on charges of accepting Rs.1 lakh as bribe from a Rakesh Kumar in lieu of benefits under the assured career progression scheme.
Mobile seizure
Patna: Pirbhore police on Tuesday nabbed five mobile thieves. The arrested youths used to sell the stolen mobile by removing the EMI number at Bakerganj. The police also seized 19 stolen mobiles from their possession.
