College call for parents

Muzaffarpur: The Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology administration has asked 22 parents, whose wards have been identified as culprits in the August 30 violence on the college campus, to appear before the college's disciplinary committee between September 9 and 13, failing which their wards could be rusticated.

Dog poisoned

Patna: Chanda Devi of Ghoswar village in Vaishali district lodged an FIR against her neighbour Inderdeo Das who poisoned her pet dog for biting his cow on Saturday. Police said a post-mortem was conducted at the animal and husbandry department hospital and subsequently a complaint was lodged under Section 429 (killing or maiming cattle) of IPC.

Voiceless

Patna: Former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday accused the Nitish Kumar government of suppressing the voice of the opposition . Modi's comment came a day after the water resources minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh threatened Modi with legal action for questioning the government's stand on the breach of embankment report published by newspapers.

Assault

Motihari: A written complaint has been filed against JDU MLC Satish Kumar by two sanitation staff members of the Motihari Nagar Parishad for allegedly abusing and assaulting them. Police are yet to register the case.

Transplant

Patna: The nephrology department of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences organised a transplant update meeting at a city hotel on Sunday. Donor work up, legal and ethical issues of transplant were discussed.

Dental event

Patna: A dental education programme was organised by the state chapter of Indian Dental Education at Scada Business Centre on Sunday. The use of Botox and fillers for correcting facial deformities was discussed by orthodontists from around the country.

Child welfare

Patna: Private Schools and Children Welfare Association on Sunday organised the 6th Shikshak Samman Samaroh at SK Memorial Hall where more than 3000 directors, principals and teachers from private schools were honoured.

Maoist nabbed

Bettiah: Police nabbed at least two Maoists during a surprise raid from a village under Matiariya police station on Sunday.
