Flood toll

Patna: The death toll due to floods in north Bihar has reached 61. Around 31 lakh people have been affected in 13 districts. The disaster management department has set up 460 relief camps and rescue work is being carried out.

Yasmin visit

Patna: Yasmin Ahmed, arrested from Delhi airport on Sunday for alleged terror links, had visited her Sitamarhi village during Id and stayed there for two weeks before leaving for Delhi, police sources said.

Launch

Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Wednesday launched Angan, a mobile application that will keep tab on the performance of anganwadi centres in the district. The officials can send their monthly reports through the app.

Workshop

Patna: Around 150 students of Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna, and NIFT attended a workshop on entrepreneurship in Patna on Wednesday.

Report

Patna: The state government on Wednesday submitted its report on the Chhapra civil court blast on April 18. Principal additional advocate general Lalit Kishore submitted the report stating that the government was committed to ensure safety of all the courts in the state.

Chargesheet

Patna: Kshatranil Singh, Bhojpur superintendent of police, on Wednesday informed the Bihar human rights commission that a chargesheet has been filed in relation to the acid attack incident of September 8, 2015 in which the complainant Satish Kumar alleged that his parents and sister were severely injured.

Tenure

Patna: Ram Niranjan Choudhary, chairman of the Barauni Petro Chemical Committee, has demanded an extension of tenure for Lokayukya Justice C.M. Prasad. Choudhary said Prasad has pending cases and that he is required to bring them to a logical conclusion.

Haj

Gaya: The first batch of Haj pilgrims will leave for Mecca-Medina on Thursday around 11.30 am. A total of 7025 pilgrims are scheduled to go on Haj pilgrimage from Bihar this year.

Arrest

Gaya: Police on Wednesday arrested three gang members, involved in hijacking heavy vehicles, from Bansibigha in Jehanabad district. An SUV has been seized from their possession.

Ammo haul

Munger: Police on Wednesday unearthed ten mini-gun factories at a place under Naya Ramnagar police station and arrested ten persons in this connection.

Action

Bettiah: West Champaran district magistrate Lokesh Kumar Singh has asked the managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company to initiate suitable action against four different companies guilty of sub-standard electrification work in several rural and urban parts of Bagaha.

Old age home

Darbhanga: District magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh and Mayor Gauri Paswan on Wednesday resolved to construct an old age home in the city in collaboration with Nagar Nigam.

Robbery

Patna: A passenger was killed and several others were injured when a group of armed men waylaid a Purnea bound private bus and robbed them of their belongings near Bhutaha Chowk in Madhubani district late on Tuesday night.
