Wine carrier arrest
Munger: Jamalpur government railway police on Thursday arrested Sweta Devi (35) from the Sahebganj-Danapur Intercity Express at Jamalpur junction and recovered 21 wine bottles from her. The cops said Sweta, a resident of Singhiya village of Munger district, used to sell fish but became a carrier for illegal wine sellers after prohibition.
Girl thrown off
Munger: A 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly drugged and thrown off a train, was found unconscious near Dashrathpur railway station on the Jamalpur-Kiul section of East Central Railway. The girl is undergoing treatment at the Munger Sadar Hospital.
Chargesheet
Patna: The vigilance bureau on Thursday filed a chargesheet against former food inspector (Patna) Surendra Kumar in the special vigilance court in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
Gun mishap
Chhapra: A man died of bullet injuries on Thursday when another villager shot at nilgai at Batarhi Dholahi village under Amnour police station. The accused was arrested and his gun seized.
Seize
Munger: Jamui police on Wednesday arrested Maoist Sanjoy Marandi alias Ranvir Marandi, Kaju Mandal and Rohit Rajak. The police recovered two rifles, three pistols, 83 live cartridges, 11 cellphones and a motorcycle from them.
Visit
Patna: Sunil Kumar Gupta, general manager of Union Bank of India (eastern region), came to Patna on Thursday on a two-day visit.
New offices
Patna: Canara Bank on Thursday opened four regional offices in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Purnia. Two Shikhar branches were also opened on Thursday at a function chaired by the bank's general manager M. M. Chiniwar.
