Bail for Anant in a case

Patna: The high court on Tuesday granted bail to Mokama MLA Anant Singh, who is charged with murdering Putus Yadav alias Pawan Kumar at Barh in 2015.

A special task force team also arrested three people accused in Yadav's murder. Singh will, however, remain in jail because he is charged in other cases.

Course PIL

Patna: The high court on Tuesday summoned chief secretary and principal secretary, health, after a PIL was filed alleging certain courses offered at Patna Medical College and Hospital were not recognised by the Medical Council of India.

Compensation

Patna: Bihar Human Rights Commission on Tuesday awarded compensation to the family of Manoj Kumar Singh (55), who died on his way to Muzaffarpur Medical College after being referred from Sitamarhi jail.

Gopalganj: Additional district judge Jyoti Swarup Srivastava on Tuesday sentenced Sushil Pandey to two years of rigorous imprisonment for trying to rape a woman.

Darbhanga: Eight Bangladeshi nationals, accused of procuring fake passports from Darbhanga regional passport office, were arrested on Tuesday.

Seminar

Patna: Bihar Industries Association and National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management organised a seminar on cold chain management on Tuesday.

Suicide

Patna: A 24-year-old Ashok Nagar resident committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Tuesday.

In a two-page suicide note, he said he took the decision as he was suffering from mental illness.
