Rights panel on oxygen
Patna: The state human rights commission issued notices to the Darbhanga district magistrate and Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital superintendent on Monday, taking suo motu cognisance of newspaper reports regarding death of patients because of shortage of oxygen cylinders at the health hub.
The commission has asked the officials concerned to submit a detailed report on the matter by October 6.

Sentence
Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Devraj Tripathi on Monday sentenced one Brajesh Kumar, alias Raju Prasad (50) to five years' rigorous imprisonment in connection with a case of poisoning and loot.

Chhapra: Police seized Rs 59 lakh from a car at Dariapur on Monday. Saran superintendent of police Satya Veer Singh said the details were being verified.

Gaya voters' portal
Gaya, Sept. 28: A web portal of Gaya district - gaya.bis.nic.in - has been launched ahead of Assembly elections where the electorate can get poll related information.
A detailed geographical information of different Assembly segments of Gaya, number of male and female electorate, number of polling booths and other election related information would be available on the portal.
Denial
Siwan: Former MLC and BJP candidate from Raghunathpur Assembly constituency Manoj Singh has rubbished the allegations of Vikram Kunwar that he was given ticket in lieu of money. On Monday, Singh said Vikram was spreading such canards against him out of anger and before levelling such allegations, he should provide proof to substantiate his charges.

Patna: The BJP on Monday demanded removal of additional director-general (headquarters) Sunil Kumar from his current posting. Party leaders Suraj Nandan Kushwaha and Sanjay Mayukh, while raising this demand, said Sunil's brother Anil Kumar was contesting the Assembly elections from Bhore seat as a Congress candidate and hence this demand had been made.

Chhapra: Former minister and sitting MLA of Manjhi Gautam Singh would contest the election as an independent candidate. Singh, who was earlier with the JDU, had joined Rashtriya Lok Samta Party but during the NDA seat-sharing, the seat was given to the LJP, leading to denial of ticket to Gautam.

Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad's close aide, Binod Shrivastava, on Monday replaced Mani Bhushan Shrivastava as Motihari candidate for the Assembly election. Earlier, Nitish Kumar had released the names of the Grand Alliance candidates including Mani Bhushan name.
Party change
Patna: RJD sitting MLA Raghavendra Pratap Singh from Barhara and JDU sitting MLA Rajesh Singh from Valmikinagar assembly seats on Monday joined Samajwadi Party after both denied ticket from their respective constituencies.
Negi retires
Patna: A senior IAS officer, S.K. Negi, has opted for voluntary retirement after he was tipped off he would be posted as chairman of the Bihar state electricity regulatory board. A notification issued by the general administration department on Sunday said Negi, who was development commissioner, would be relieved from the post with effect from September 30.
