Nine of gang in cop net
Ara: Nine members of an inter-state vehicle lifters' gang, including its kingpin Arvind Pal, were arrested in Bhojpur district on Sunday.
Police said the gang was involved in hijacking vehicles from national highways crossing the district. The arrested persons were identified as Jitendra Yadav, Ramashankar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Kamlesh Singh, Ramayan Singh, Awadhesh Singh, Nagendra Yadav and Sunil Kumar.
Youth killed
Motihari: The eyes of a 25-year-old youth Dinesh Kumar Mishra were gouged out after he was killed at Ganga Pipra village in East Champaran district on Saturday. Police said the victim's father Birendra Kumar Mishra lodged an FIR against five persons, including a transporter, Lalan Azad.

Samastipur: An FIR has been lodged against LJP leader Umashankar Mishra for circulating a morphed video of Union human resource development minister Smriti Irani over WhatsApp.
Body found
Chhapra: Police on Sunday recovered the corpse of a youth packed in a bag from Muna locality. A bullet injury was found on his chest and afinger had been chopped off.
Vendor dead
Chhapra: Mithilesh Prasad Sah, a fruit vendor, was crushed to death by a private bus on Sunday. The driver and the cleaner of the bus absconded after the incident and passengers bound for Patna were left in the lurch. Agitated people set the bus on fire and staged a blockade for five hours.
Robbery
Munger: Robbers looted jewellery worth about Rs 8 lakh at Maharajganj market on Saturday evening. The jeweller, Sambhu Prasad, was waylaid and his bag, containing pieces of jewellery, was snatched by two bike-borne criminals while he was returning home with his son Rahul Kumar.
Lynching
Munger: Shopkeeper Pappu Pandit (30), a resident of Rahpura village, was beaten to death by his co-villagers on Saturday. An FIR against unknown persons has been lodged in this connection.
PU VC meets Tripathi
Patna: Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Sunday met Patna University vice-chancellor Y.C. Simhadri at Raj Bhavan and asked him to take an initiative to solve the non-teaching employees' issue who are on strike since April 10 in support of their various demands.
Due to the agitation, academic activities at Patna University have come to a standstill.

Muzaffarpur: The court of chief judicial magistrate V.P. Singh on Saturday issued warrant of arrest against 10 students of MIT. The names of these students figured in the FIR in a case of fight against local residents on March 29. Apprehending arrest, these students had left the institute a few days back.

Patna: Nalanda's Sohsarai police station house officer D.K. Srivastava was put under suspension on Sunday for allegedly pushing a man from the double-storied building of the police station on Friday. The victim, identified as Ram Pravesh Paswan, (45), has been admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital.
