Encroachment spurs clash
Bhagalpur: Around 15 people, including police personnel, suffered injuries in a group clash at Olpura village in the district on Tuesday night.
Police said the incident occurred when they went to the village to remove illegal encroachment from the land belonging to members of the minority community.
Senior superintendent of police Vivek Kumar said: "The squatters had attacked the police, but finally we managed to remove illegal encroachment from that land."
He added that the situation was under control.

Muzaffarpur: Vigilance sleuths conducted a raid on the house ofsuperintending engineer of building construction department Satyanarayan Mahto in Shahjanand colony on Wednesday evening. They recovered huge assets and valuables from his house.
Woman killed
Gaya: A middle-aged woman, Basanti Devi, of Hazaribagh in Jharkhand was killed on Wednesday when a vehicle slipped into Brahmkund pond at Pretshila where the victim was performing pinddaan rituals. Three others were injured.
Accident
Purnea: A 55-year-old man died on the spot when he was hit by the Katihar-Jogbani passenger train on Wednesdaywhile he was trying to cross the track at Purnea railway station.
Suspension
Darbhanga: Lalit Narayan Mithila University vice-chancellor Saket Kushwaha on Wednesday suspended principal of JN College of Madhubani RK Mandal for allegedly appointing two persons at RK College in Madhubani on the basis of false documents.
Judicial custody
Motihari: Manoj Sah, a Maoist who was nabbed from Madhuban on Tuesdaywith arms and ammunition in a joint operation conducted by police and CRPF, was sent under judicial custodyon Wednesday. In another incident, one Raju Kumar Singh, a member of a banned outfit, who was apprehended by the policeon Tuesday,was also sent to judicial custodyon Wednesday.
Doctors' strike
Motihari: The strike by contract doctors entered its fourth day on Wednesday causing inconvenience to a large number of patients who visit the sadar hospital every day.
MLA donation
Muzaffarpur: Independent MLA Pawan Jaiswal donated Rs 25,000 to Samiran Khatoon at Bajopatti village in Sitamarhi. She is undergoing treatment at a private nursing home following injuries inflicted on her by tormentors in Motihari recently.
