Bridge petition in court
Patna, Dec. 14: A public interest litigation was filed in Patna High Court today, seeking directive to the state government to punish officials responsible for the collapse of newly constructed bridges in the state.
Petitioner Jitendra Kumar Singh cited recent collapse incidents in Samastipur, Aurangabad, Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur.
MLC fate
Patna: Legislative Council chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh on Monday deferred the date of hearing against JDU MLCs against Narendra Singh, Samrat Choudhary and Sheo Prasanna Yadav for anti-party activities. Narendra and Samrat have been asked to appear with replies on December 21, else decision will be taken by ex-party on December 23. Sheo has been asked to reply on January 5.
Bungalows
Patna: The building construction department on Monday allotted bungalows to nine ministers, including deputy chief minister Tejaswi. He has got the bungalow at 5 Desh Ratna Marg, which was earlier occupied by Brishen Patel, who is now the state unit president of Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular.

Murder case
Siwan: Chief judicial magistrate Arvind Singh on Monday sent JDU MLA from Ziradai Ramesh Kushwaha to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the murder of one Shivji Dubey following some land dispute. The incident occurred under Ander police station. Kushwaha was absconding but had filed bail petition that was rejected by the court.
Assault
Supaul: A middle-aged woman was brutally assaulted and later paraded nude after being branded a witch at Bahuarwa village on Monday. Bishunpur police have registered a case against unidentified persons in this connection.
Vet varsity
Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday announced that a veterinary science university will be set up in the state on the campus of Bihar Veterinary College in Patna. He directed principal fish and animal resources secretary Narmadeshwar Lal to complete the formalities.
Durbar
Patna: Education and IT minister Ashok Choudhary, also the president of Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, will meet party workers, Grand Alliance members and common people at the state Congress headquarters at Sadaquat Ashram from 10am to 11am on December 15.
