FIR on MLA

Patna: An FIR was lodged against Satyadev Kushwaha, the JDU MLA from Kurtha on Friday in connection with a sting operation showing him taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a man.

The case was lodged against the MLA on the recommendation of Arwal district magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh, who had sought a report from the returning officer of Kurtha, Alok Kumar.

On October 26, the video showing Kushwaha taking bribe had become viral on social media. Alok Ranjan Ghosh said the district administration had taken a serious note of the matter and ordered a probe. A showcause notice was also issued against Kushwaha asking him to file a reply.

Manjhi jab

Gopalganj: Former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday alleged that Nitish Kumar removed him from the post of chief minister at the behest of Lalu Prasad. Manjhi called it "a great humiliation for Mahadalits". He was addressing a meeting here at Rajpur.

Lande trouble

Patna: Shivdeep Lande, an IPS officer who is presently holding the post of superintendent of police (Special Task Force) on Friday lodged an informatory with the Gandhi Maidan police station over a picture of his which had got the symbol of a political party. The police said the matter was being investigated.

Youth killed

Gaya: Criminals on Friday gunned down Guddu Tiwari at New Godown Tutbari in Gaya. The youth had come out of Gaya Central Jail on Thursday. Cops have started a probe.

Munger: Criminals on Thursday abducted a private surveyor, Satish Mandal, from Mahuli.

Munger: One Fudani Yadav was arrested for the murder of Damodar Manjhi, a resident of Bikhakita on October 24.

Official removed

Patna: The urban development and housing department has removed Rup Narayan Mehta from the post of deputy mayor of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), through a letter issued on Friday.

Charges were levelled against him for being missing from important meetings of the PMC.
