Patna, May 7: Brahmeshwar Singh ‘Mukhia’, the alleged mastermind of several massacres in central Bihar, today took potshots at the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government for its “anti-farmer” policies.
Brahmeshwar, who was granted bail last year, criticised the government for “deterioration on all fronts, including education and growing corruption”. He said: “Distribution of cycles and school uniform among students is not going to help as it amounts to bribing them (the students).”
Brahmeshwar, who had floated a private armed unit called Ranvir Sena to counter threats from Naxalites, said: “I had no association with the Ranvir Sena.” He claimed that he had tried to mobilise farmers to counter the rebels and it might be possible that some farmers might have association with members of the Ranvir Sena.
After Ranvir Sena came into being, there were, however, a series of clashes between ultra-Left extremist groups and the Sena, which claimed over 100 lives. Brahmeshwar was in the capital today to garner support for his non-political outfit Akhil Bharatiya Rashtravadi Kisan Sangathan.
Brahmeshwar said: “Though Nitish has been successful in controlling crime, corruption has grown during his term. From blocks in remote areas to officers sitting at the secretariat, all are corrupt.”
Brahmeshwar also said for a state like Bihar where more than 80 per cent of the population depends upon agriculture, no anti-farmer or anti-labour government could survive. He added that his organisation would try to stop the government from repeating the policies of its predecessors. “Earlier, the government divided people on caste lines. Now, people will not support any government that divides people on such issues.”
