A 50-year-old man was found murdered after being allegedly bobbitised in the Lalatola locality of the state capital on Sunday morning.

Police said prima facie it appeared that Jagannath Choudhary might have died because of excessive bleeding after being bobbitised. Choudhary’s body was found in a room of a factory where he used to work.

The police added that he used to stay in the room where his body was found.

Choudhary was a resident of the Tripolia area under Alamganj police station. The building, located under Kadamkuan police station, housed a small ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit.

“There are altogether three rooms in the house and the factory belongs to one Satyendra Narayan Singh, who is at present out of town. Choudhary was found outside one of the rooms near the main door of the unit. He was not wearing a shirt or a trouser. He was found leaning against the wall, a posture quite unusual,” an officer at Kadamkuan police station told The Telegraph.

“Early in the morning, some resident saw him in that position through the iron door with blood all over after. Frightened by the sight, they raised an alarm and got in touch with the police. The owner of the house is Prashant Kumar and he is being questioned,” the officer said.

The police admitted that it was too early to arrive at any conclusion.

“His (Choudhary’s) family has been informed. The deceased has two sons, aged between 22 and 25 years. According to the family members, Choudhary had gone out for work every day and came back late in the evening,” the officer said. “On Saturday, the victim had left for work like any other day but did not return. He had told the family members that he would come back on Sunday morning,” the officer added.

Sources said a number of other employees, including a 17-year-old girl, works at the unit. The girl, however, had stopped coming to work around a month ago.

“The police have learnt that the girl was seen at the same place yesterday (Saturday). It would not be correct to jump to any conclusions. The girl’s statements could make things clearer,” another officer at Kadamkuan police station told The Telegraph.

He added that the other employees at the unit would be questioned as well.

“Prima facie, this appears to be a case of murder. But the crime has been committed in a very unusual manner. There has to be a thorough investigation into the crime because this was quite an unusual incident,” the officer added.
