Patna, Aug. 23: The CBSE and CISCE affiliated schools in the city are busy registering details, including phone number and email IDs, of students from classes IX to XII.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently issued a guideline to all affiliated schools to register the email ID and phone number of all students (IX to XII) and upload it on the website of the board.

Sources claimed that similar directive was also issued by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), which conducts the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examinations to register personal details, including name, picture and signature of students from classes IX to XII and upload on the boards’s website.

The CBSE has set the deadline of August 25 for uploading the required details of the students on the website, whereas the deadline for the same set by ICSE is September 15. Sources claimed that the digitisation of students’ registration by the two boards is aimed at maintaining an accurate database of all students appearing in the board exam.

While few of the CBSE schools in the city like Notre Dame Academy have already uploaded the required details of the students on the board’s website, others claimed that work is under progress. Each school has to upload the required students’ details on the website of the CBSE using their unique authentication code, user ID and password.

Notre Dame Academy principal Sister Mary Tessy said: “We have already uploaded the required details of students from classes IX to XII on the website of CBSE.”

Sources claimed that the move of maintaining the database of students’ email ID is aimed at fine-tuning the new system of online verification of marks and getting a photocopy of the answer sheets for students appearing in the Class XII board examination from this year. The CBSE introduced this re-evaluation system to bring a higher level of transparency.

Though guideline seeks phone number, several schools in the city prohibit the use of mobile phones on the institution premise. Accordingly, such schools ask for the mobile number of the students’ parents. “We are taking the phone number of their parents. As far as email ID is concerned, we are asking students to create new email ID if they do not have one. We intend to complete the process of uploading details of the students on the board’s website by Monday,” said Ramanuj Prasad, principal, DAV BSEB.

Some schools are also registering two phone numbers. “Our school is taking two phone numbers from the students. It would allow direct contact between the board, students and their parents,” said S.N. Tauhid, a teacher of English at DAV Khagaul.

ICSE schools are working on a war footing to complete the registration. “We have sent students’ details to the board by July 31. The process for the same for students from classes IX to XII is to be completed by September 15. We are sending students’ name, photograph, his/her signature, and mother and fathers’ name,” said Mary Alphonsa, principal, Don Bosco Academy.
