Patna, May 23: Class XII students all over the country were upbeat today over the high scores in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination after the results were declared but examinees in Patna region would have to wait till May 27 to join the celebrations.

The Class X students of the region are in more trouble. CBSE officials said the Class X results would be declared only in the first week of June. That, too, will be confirmed once the Class XII results of the Patna region — that includes Bihar and Jharkhand — are published.

M.U. Sorte, secretary-cum-regional officer, CBSE, Bihar-Jharkhand, said: “The Class X results are likely to be announced in the first week of June. Unless the Class XII results are declared, nothing can be said about the Class X results. We are trying to release the Class XII results for the Patna region by May 27.”

Sources said the Class X results would be declared in the rest of India over the next two or three days, the most likely date being May 25.

Many Class XII students logged on to the CBSE website this morning only to be disappointed to see that results of all other regions had been declared but not theirs.

“I hate this wait. This is frustrating,” said Salviya, a Class XII student of St Dominic Savio’s High School.

School authorities, too, are worried over the delayed results.

An official of a school said: “We are getting calls from students enquiring about the results. We don’t know what to tell them. Many of them are planning to move out of the state for higher studies and are afraid that they will miss the admission deadlines.”

Shweta Sharma, the biology teacher of St Michael’s High School, said: “The delay in results is an unnecessary stress on the students. Good or bad, the students need to know their results.”

Around 90,000 students have taken the Class X and Class XII exams from the zone this year.

Sources said the delay in the publication of the results was caused by delayed evaluation of the papers. While the marking of the science papers were competed on May 8, the evaluation of the English papers began as late as May 9.
