Patna: The BJP is leaving nothing to chance when it comes to quelling the Opposition charge against the party on Dalit and reservation issues.

After a recent Supreme Court directive, "diluting" the SC/ST Atrocities Act by ruling against automatic arrests and allowing anticipatory bail of the accused, Opposition parties have been claiming the BJP was anti-Dalit and planned to end quota to SC/ST and OBCs.

The charges cost the BJP dearly in the 2015 Assembly polls when it got just 50-odd seats. This time around, however, the party is gearing up a year before of the 2019 polls, by pressing its leaders and workers alike to clear doubts, if any, in the minds of people. Party president Nityanand Rai has embarked on a state-wide tour and will be visiting all 243 Assembly segments in the next six months to spread word about the party's stand vis-à-vis Dalits, reservation and works being done by central and state governments to ameliorate the condition of deprived sections and empower then.

"Yes, I will visit all Assembly segments and so also will other senior leaders of the party," Rai, who was in Banka on Friday, told The Telegraph over phone. "Also, all MLAs and MPs will be visiting different parts of the state to make people aware of our stand on such issues and also expose rumours being spread by our political opponents."
