The cabinet has declared Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a biopic on athlete Milkha Singh, tax-free in Bihar.
The Farhan Akhtar-Sonam Kapoor starrer, which has crossed Rs 100 crore across the country, has already been declared tax-free in several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and others.
State cabinet co-ordination joint secretary Vinod Kumar Jha said: “The cabinet gave its nod declaring the movie as tax- free as the movie revolves around the life of Flying Sikh depicting national integration and discipline.”
Sources said 50 per cent on a movie ticket is collected as entertainment tax. For instance, a movie ticket priced at Rs 100, Rs 50 is collected as entertainment tax.
In another decision, the cabinet approved the creation of a separate Special Indian Reserve battalion on the pattern of India Reserve battalion. Sources said the idea behind creation of the battalion is to lessen the burden of central forces in controlling criminal and extremist activities. It also sanctioned Rs 1,155 crore for setting up of 1,000 middle schools in panchayats, which do not have middle schools.
