Power cut alert

Patna: There could be power cut for five hours from 12noon on Saturday in some pockets of Nehru Nagar, Boring Canal Road, SK Puri, Anandpuri and Pant Bhavan because of re-conductoring of a 33KV line.

Supply would be affected for six hours from 11am in some areas near Polson Road, Digha Haat, Haripur Colony, Railway Colony and MICA Colony also because of a re-conductoring work. People of Chitkohra, Sadhnapuri, Alkapuri, Vishnupuri and Damaria could face power cut for three hours from 11am. Supply would be affected for five hours from 11am at Kurji Mor, areas around Loyola School, Gosain Tola, Chasma Centre and LCT Ghat.

FIR against mayor

Patna, Jan. 30: An FIR has been lodged at Bahadurpur police station against Patna mayor Afzal Imam and another person, identified as Kallu Mahto, for threatening and extortion.

The FIR has been lodged by Danish Abedin, who runs a school, accusing Imam and Mahto of trying to capture Abedin's plot and demanding Rs 30 lakh. He added that he was threatened with dire consequences. Police said investigation is on.

Loot probe

Motihari: Police have questioned Rupesh Giri, a constable presently posted as bodyguard of Paharpur block development officer, in connection with a case on Thursday, in which criminals looted about 2kg gold and Rs 12 lakh in cash from Calcutta gold trader Bapi Mandal in a running train near Motihari.
