Bail for Nikhil

Patna, Aug. 23: The high court today granted conditional bail to automobile dealer Nikhil Priyadarshi, the prime accused in the alleged sexual exploitation of a former minister's daughter, on the ground that he would marry the girl within three months.

The single bench of Justice Vinod Kumar Sinha said any decision would be taken by the court after that. Both Nikhil and the girl had moved a compromise petition stating they wanted to marry each other.

Flood relief

Patna: S.P. Singh, the vice-chancellor of Aryabhatta Knowledge University, on Wednesday donated Rs 2 lakh to the chief minister's relief fund for flood victims on behalf of the university. All BJP MLAs and MLCs also contributed their salary for the month to the fund.

Puja trains

Patna: East Central Railway on Wednesday announced the decision to run Puja special trains for Kota (Rajasthan) and Habibganj (Bhopal) from Patna. Two trains for Habibganj and Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) will from Gaya too.

Sushil praise

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Modi on Wednesday hailed the Centre's decision on reservation for Other Backward Classes, increasing the creamy layer limit to Rs 8 lakh from the current Rs 6 lakh annual salary.

GST plea

Patna: The Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries has requested the Centre to extend the date to file July's returns for the Goods and Services Tax by at least a month in view of the devastating floods.
