Four juveniles flee

• Patna: Four juveniles facing charges of murder, extortion and loot escaped from a prisoners van parked in the Ara juvenile court premises in Bhojpur district on Thursday.

Police said the four escaped from the prisoners' van after damaging its roof when the vehicle was parked at the court. The delinquents were brought from their remand home for production in court. The incident came to fore around 1.30 pm when the police found four out of the 11 prisoners missing.

Boys drown

• Sasaram: Four children - Golu, 8, Ankit, 7, Aman, 8 and Dipu, 12 - drowned while bathing in a pond at Targanj village of Rohtas district on Thursday. Some residents blocked GT road for an hour demanding compensation to the affected families.

Liquor haul

• Chhapra: Police seized 172 cartons of India made foreign liquor and arrested two smugglers during a raid on the Baniapur-Nagra road at Katesar village under the jurisdiction of Kharia police station in Saran district on Thursday. The seized consignment was brought from Haryana.

Sports goal

• Patna: The state government has set a target to open five new Eklavya state residential sports training centres in Bihar in 2017-18, art, culture and youth minister Shivchandra Ram said on Thursday.

• Patna: Hamdard Laboratories on Thursday opened its seventh wellness centre at Ashok Rajpath, opposite B.N. College, after successfully opening centres in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Lucknow. The objective is to spread Unani natural healing touch and reach out to the people wanting natural herbal treatment for lifestyle diseases and a host of other ailments.
