Protest over fees
Patna: Former spokesperson of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee's intellectual cell Ajay Kumar on Monday demanded that the state government intervene in the matter of private schools increasing their fees.
In a press note issued on Monday, Ajay said many private schools were openly violating the Right to Education Act.

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar held a meeting with Governor Ram Nath Kovind at Raj Bhavan on Monday. Raj Bhavan sources described the meeting as "informal and routine".

Patna: The Vivo IPL 2017 Trophy on Monday reached Patna after passing through seven cities across India. The trophy was displayed at Central Mall.

Patna: Rajeev Chetna Manch on Monday observed the death anniversary of journalist and writer Khushwant Singh. Manch members paid tributes by offering flowers at his photograph.
Former spokesperson of Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan Ajay Kumar said no one can replace Singh in the field of writing and journalism.

Patna: Shehnai Wadak Ustad Bismillah Khan Trust on Monday celebrated the birth anniversary of the late shehnai maestro. The trust, along with Everest Classes, organised a programme in which his adopted daughter Soma Ghosh was present. Ghosh appealed to youngsters to promote Indian classical music.
Chaiti Chhath prep
Patna, March 20: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal today conducted a review meeting for the preparation of Chaiti Chhath, which starts on March 28.
Agarwal instructed officials to make arrangements for basic requirements at the ghats. Instructions for approach roads and lighting was given to the departments concerned.
CM funds
Patna: Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation Limited on Monday handed over a cheque of Rs 2.5 crore to the chief minister's relief fund. The director-general-cum-chief managing director of the corporation, Abhay K. Upadhyay, handed over the cheque to Nitish at his official chamber in the Bihar Assembly.
Women crime
Patna: Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) national general secretary Seema Saxena on Monday slammed the state government over alleged atrocities on girl students in Bihar. Saxena accused police and the Grand Alliance government of giving shelter to anti-socials. She raised concerns over the rise in crime against women.
Theatre festival
Patna: A three-day drama festival organised by Naad Patna, a theatre group, was inaugurated at Kalidas Rangalaya in the city on Monday. A play written by Avinash Chandra Mishra and Mohammad Jaani was performed.
Workshop
Patna: "Developing the training module for gram kutchery members", a two-day workshop organised by the Chanakya National Law University, ended on the campus on Monday. The workshop, that bengan on Sunday, was organised in collaboration with the state panchayati raj department.
