Bail for scribe murder

Patna: A CBI court in Muzaffarpur granted bail to Javed on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Siwan journalist Rajdev Ranjan. The court accepted Javed's bail plea as the probe agency failed to submit the chargesheet within a stipulated period.

Mohammad Kaif, another accused in the case, has been granted bail earlier.

Rajak car hit

Patna: A speeding truck hit MLA Shyam Rajak's SUV at Balmichak under Gardanibagh police station area on Tuesday when the Phulwarisharif MLA was passing the area with his bodyguard. The truck, which was travelling in the same direction tried to overtake the SUV and hit it. No was injured in the accident.

Life term

Patna: A Patna court on Tuesday awarded life term to 14 persons in connection with a murder in Dhanarua, Patna rural, in 2011. The court headed by Akhiland Dubey had earlier found the accused guilty of killing Sukhu Majhi on August 30, 2011.

Threat call

Patna: Rashtriya Lok Samata Party Harlakhi MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar has lodged a FIR at Kotwali police station in Patna after receiving threat calls on his cellphone.

Buddhist fest

Patna: Governor Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday inaugurated a Buddhist festival at Phnom Penh in Cambodia. Kovind is on a three-day visit to the country.

Shahabuddin

Patna: Siwan strongman Mohammad Shahabuddin, whose picture clicked inside jail and went viral on social media, was granted bail in the case. An FIR was lodged against the former Siwan MP in this connection.

Private bid protest

Patna, Feb. 7: Employees of the Central Public Works Department, circle office, Patna, staged a demonstration today protesting efforts to privatise the department.

The employees counted the contributions of the department over the past 123 years towards nation-building and demanded the central government to shelve its plan.

Convocation

Patna: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou)'s 30th convocation ceremony will be held in March this year, the university has said on Tuesday. The main function will be held at the Ignou headquarters in Delhi, and simultaneously at all the regional centres through tele-conference.

Trials

Patna: The selection and training camp for the Bihar team participating in the 31st senior national baseball men's and women's championship will begin from February 15 at the Patna Science College. The championship will be held in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

Book session

Patna: Businessman-cum-philanthropist Sundeep Bhutoria spoke on his book My Life My Travels during a literary session organised at the Patna Book Fair on Tuesday. Blogger Aradhana Pradhan chatted with Bhutoria during the session. My Life My Travels is the English version of Bhutoria's Hindi book Aap Biti Jag Biti that was published few years ago. He has also written The Safari on the tigers in Ranthambore.
