Woman raped in Nawada

Nawada: A woman was gang raped while returning home from the local market with her husband at Kharidi Bigha village in Nawada district late on Tuesday evening.

The victim’s husband reported the matter to the women’s police station on Wednesday following which an FIR was lodged against four persons.

Cash seizure

Motihari: As many as four persons were nabbed and Rs 30 lakh was seized from them late on Tuesday night by SSB personnel near Bhelahi border outpost on Wednesday.

Two dead

Gaya: Two sisters, Neelam and Naina, were killed when the wall of their house collapsed at Sudanpur village on Wednesday morning. Neelam died on the spot, while Naina succumbed to the injuries at the hospital. Excessive moisture because of heavy rain last week is said to be the reason behind the collapse.

Youth killed

Patna: A youth was strangulated to death and his body was hung from a tree at a deserted place in Patna rural on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Mukesh Paswan and the reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

Court order

Patna: The high court on Wednesday admitted the appeal for bail plea of Shamse Alam, the policeman who has been sentenced to death by a fast track court in the 2002 fake encounter case.

Witch hunt

Patna (PTI): Taking suo motu cognizance of ‘witch-hunting’ cases in the state, the Bihar Human Rights Commission on Wednesday asked director-general of police P.K. Thakur to get a study done on the issue.
