Minister denies milk price hike
patna: Animal and fish resources minister Giriraj Singh on Monday turned down a proposal of Sudha Dairy for an upward revision of milk prices. He said a hike in the milk prices was not likely to be effected soon.
“As soon as I came to know about the proposal, I directed the official concerned not to take any such decision without a consultation with the stakeholders — milk suppliers and consumers,” the minister said. Sudha Dairy officials, however, remained tight-lipped.
Cong cell members
patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ashok Choudhary on Monday constituted a four-member “research and planning” cell of the party, said spokesman Vinod Sharma. Senior party leader Jaya Kumari has been made the convener of the cell. Chandan Yadav, Sanjay Sinha and Indra Narayan Jha have been made members.
Rape convict
bhagalpur (PTI): A local court on Monday sentenced a man to seven years of imprisonment and slapped on him a fine of Rs 2,000 for raping a minor. The ad hoc court’s additional district judge Srinivas Singh found Pintu Paswan guilty of raping the girl at English Bazar village in March 2011. According to the prosecution, the victim was washing utensils at a hand pump near her house when the convict forcibly took her to an isolated place and raped her.

patna: The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman, Vinod Sharma, on Monday criticised the BJP for its alleged statement against the Congress Seva Dal.
Poll meet
patna: The Congress election campaign committee meeting has been convened at the party’s state headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the Maharajganj bypoll. It would be presided over by the committee’s convenor and Congress Legislature Party leader, Sadanand Singh.
Coin camp
patna: The Tapindu Urban Cooperative Bank Limited in association with the Patna regional office of Reserve Bank of India organised a financial inclusion-cum-coin exchange camp on Monday. As many as 145 new bank accounts with zero balance facility were opened at the camp and coins worth Rs 4 lakh were exchanged.

patna: The Patna office of Reserve Bank of India on Monday issued a press note urging income tax assesses (payers) to remit their dues in advance to avoid last minute rush.
