Clash triggers prohibitory order
Patna: Prohibitory orders were clamped in Daudnagar, a sub-divisional town in Aurangabad district, on Tuesday after violent clashes between two groups of people left at least 12 security personnel and residents injured.
Five of the seriously wounded, including a member of the Rapid Action Force, Kaushalendra Kumar, have been admitted to a nearby government hospital. Others were released after they were administered first-aid at the Daudnagar primary health centre.
Sub-divisional officer Om Prakash Mandal said prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC were also promulgated in the town to avert further clashes.
Special trains for exam
Patna: Indian Railways has decided to run two special trains between Patna and Secunderabad for candidates appearing for the Railway Recruitment Board examination. The first train, Patna-Secunderabad RRB Exam Special (03241), will depart from Patna Junction at 10am on November 7 and reach Secunderabad at 9pm the next day. The Secunderabad-Patna RRB Exam Special (03242) will leave Secunderabad at 10pm on November 9 and will arrive at Patna Junction at 7.45am on Monday.
Illicit liquor raid
Patna: Ten people were arrested from Digha, Danapur and the Airport area on Tuesday during an ongoing police drive against the sale of illicit liquor. Police recovered 722 pouches of countrymade illicit liquor, four cellphones, a bicycle and Rs 3,646. Senior superintendent of police Jitender Rana issued an alert to all the station house officers to keep close eye on the sale of illicit liquor in their areas.
Dispute arrest
Patna: Six persons have been arrested in a case related to indiscriminate firing over a land dispute in the Janipur area under Hasanpur and Chaipur police station of Patna district. Police recovered a 9mm bore pistol, 35 live cartridges, six empty cartridges and 16 pouches of 200ml countrymade liquor.
Conference
Patna: The annual conference of Bihar-Jharkhand Rajya Vidyut Parishad Field Kamgar Union would be held on November 11 and 12, said its general secretary Amarendra Prasad Mishra on Tuesday. Bihar State Power (Holding) Company chairman-cum-managing director Pratyaya Amrit would inaugurate the annual conference. Review of franchise, outsourcing, new recruitment policy and other issues would be discussed at the event for which around 1,000 delegates are expected to come.
Tube wells
Munger: BJP MLA Rameshwar Chourasia on Tuesday directed the district administration to ensure 40 tube wells in Munger were functional. The tube wells concerned are meant for irrigation but are lying idle because of lack of a power connection.
Cancer event
Patna: The Cancer Awareness Society would organise a programme on November 7 to generate consciousness about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption. School students would be a part of the event. Chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi would be the chief guest at the function.
