Woman, three children killed

Muzaffarpur: A woman, along with her three children, committed suicide by lying down on train tracks near railway crossing number 124 on Muzaffarpur-Narkatiaganj section on Friday afternoon.

The bodies of all the four were cut into pieces when a Muzaffarpur-Narkatiaganj 55030 passenger train ran them over. Government railway police inspector Suresh Prasad said the woman was a resident of Mohammadpur Balmi village under the jurisdiction of Motipur police station. Investigation is on, Prasad said.

LIC officer in remand

Patna: Special CBI judge Ravindra Patwari on Friday remanded former assistant of Life Insurance Corporation of India, Patnasahib Branch, Pawan Kumar Rajak and agent Aftab Alam, a resident of Mohalla Bagh Kalu Khan under the jurisdiction of Khajekalan police station, to Beur jail in connection with alleged illegal withdrawal of Rs 42 lakh from loan accounts of other persons.

Molest charge

Patna: One Radheshyam Singh Kushwaha (45), a resident of Bhanas village in Rohtas district, was arrested for allegedly attempting to outrage the modesty of his daughter-in-law. The victim attacked the alleged tormentor with a sharp-edged weapon causing grievous injuries in both his hands.

Probe

Patna: Jehanabad district magistrate Md. Shohail has ordered a probe into the alleged torture inflicted on a minor boy by the proprietor of a public school for not attending classes on a regular basis.

Cong visit

Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Chandan Yadav on Friday said party president Ashok Choudhary would visit Muzaffarpur on Saturday to take stock of encephalitis, which has taken the death toll to 20.

Train robbery

Patna: Rakesh Kumar Sinha, an executive with a private company in Patna, was robbed of his bag containing Rs 5,000 in cash, two mobile phones and a camera while travelling in an AC compartment of 12351 Howrah-Danapur Express on Friday.

Goa gathering

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, state unit president Mangal Pandey and other senior leaders left for Goa on Friday evening to attend the BJP national executive meet.

Inspection

Patna: District magistrate N. Saravana Kumar recently took disciplinary action against eight officials who were not found on duty during random inspection in Mokama, Ghoshwari and Pandharak under Barh sub-division on June 5.

Industry meet

Patna: Deputy chief minister and chairman of the empowered committee of state finance ministers on goods and services tax Sushil Kumar Modi convened a high-level meeting on Friday with representatives of Ficci, Assocham, CII and PHD Chamber in New Delhi.
