Residents find beheaded body
Ara: A beheaded body of a youth found by villagers triggered tension in the town on Sunday. The body was cut into pieces and thrown on the outskirts of the village in polythene packets.
he body had already decomposed when the villagers saw it. Bhojpur police recovered the body from Jalpura Mathiya locality under the jurisdiction of Chandi police station of the district. The police, however, could not find the head of the body. Station house officer Sanjay Shankar said: “It appears that the body was dragged to the area after the murder.” The identity of the youth is yet to be ascertained.
FIR against tormentor
Bettiah: An FIR against one Bala Miya of Siswa Tazpur village was lodged on Sunday with Dhanha police station in West Champaran for allegedly beating up three minor boys of the village with a hot iron rod on Saturday evening. The station house officer of Dhanha police station, Pramod Prasad, confirmed the incident. He said the boys have been released on Sunday after giving them first aid at Mainatand primary health centre.
Rape on train
Patna: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a middle-aged man in a compartment of the Gaya-Jamalpur Passenger train near Sirari railway station in Lakhisarai district on Saturday night. The alleged accused, Rajendra Sao, was arrested and subsequently produced before the railway magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody. The victim, a native of Mahnar in Vaishali district, had escaped from her in-laws' house and boarded the train. A complaint was lodged with Bakhtiarpur government railway police station in connection with the incident.
Nawada normal
Patna: The situation in Nawada is limping to normality after the administration lifted the curfew on Saturday. However, security personnel would continue to patrol the sensitive areas of the town, which witnessed violent clashes between two groups last week.
Modi barb
Patna: JD(U) spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad criticised the decision of the BJP for considering Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate of the party for the next election. Prasad said by doing this, the BJP had insulted the landslide mandate given to the NDA alliance in the last election.
Mishap
Patna: At least 13 people were injured when a vehicle on National Highway-2, under the jurisdiction Shivsagar police station in Rohtas, hit a tourist bus on Sunday. The injured have been admitted to Sasaram Sadar hospital. The driver of the bus, whose condition was stated to be critical, was referred to Varanasi Hospital.
Bodies found
Paradip (Odisha) (PTI): The bodies of three persons from Bihar who got drowned a few days ago while taking bath were recovered on Saturday. The three were workers of Paradip oil refinery.
Lightning death
Nawada (PTI): Two women were killed on Sunday after lightning struck them in villages under Sirdala police station in Nawada district, police sources said. A group of women were planting paddy saplings in fields in Manpura and Khaira villages when lightning struck them. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.
