Central funds for urban projects

Patna: A sum of Rs 484.95 crore has been sanctioned under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission for implementing e-municipality project in urban local bodies.

Sources said on Monday the project entails providing services to citizens through single window system and its implementation would be a major step in the direction of e-governance. The citizens would get 18 types of services round-the-clock through this facility in a decentralised manner.

Inspection teams

Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation has set up six teams of technical personnel to inspect the buildings of Bankipore circle where work has been stopped by an order of the circle executive officer. The team has been asked to submit its report within three days, sources said on Monday.

Quiz winners

Patna: A team of four students — Swapnil, Ashwin, Aumkar and Prabhat — won the intra-school quiz competition organised by the ICSE wing of International School on Monday. The winners would represent the school in the inter-school quiz competition to be held at Don Bosco Academy on Tuesday.

Fine slap

Buxar: The district consumer and redressal forum slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh to the Indian Railways on Monday for deficiency in services following a complaint by a local businessman.

Tributes

Patna: Members of CPI(ML) on Monday paid rich tributes to Mao-Tse-Tung also known as Mao Zedong on his birth anniversary. The members gave a call to the workers of the country to fight against capitalist forces.

Rally

Patna: Members of National Ex-Servicemen Co-ordination Committee, Bihar, on Monday took out a rally from Kargil Chowk in support of their demands, including increase in payment, hike in uniform allowances and increase in number of holidays.

Gang in net

Patna: Four members of a gang involved in ATM thefts were arrested on Monday from Malsalami police station area. Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said the criminals used to also smash the CCTVs of the ATMs so that no one could track them.

Orientation

Patna: Amity Global Business School, which has completed five years in the state, will conduct an orientation progra- mme on September 11-13 for students taking admission in BBA (session 2016) and MBA (session 2015).

BIT award

Patna: Toastmasters Club of Birla Institute of Technology, Patna, won the Smedley award for 2013. The award was given in the honour of Ralph C. Smedley, the founder of Toastmaster International, to the clubs worldwide for building strong membership network.

Mishap

Samastipur (PTI): Two minor girls drowned on Monday in a river at Tara Dhamaun village in Samastipur district. The victims, identified as Muskan (7) and Roshani (8), were taking bath in Baya river when they accidentally slipped in deep water and drowned, superintendent of police Chandrika Prasad said.
