Steps to improve traffic system
Patna: The Indian Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday recommended several changes in the city’s traffic system.
fficials said with the recommendations based on the conference on “Patna Traffic Management: Bottlenecks and Solutions”, which was held in Patna on August 21 and the same were based on the points raised by the speakers at the Conference.
Some of the recommendations include imposing fines on the makeshift shop keepers who set up their shops on pavements and roadsides, heavy penalty for wrong parking, clearing garbage and debris from footpaths and reduction in the number of auto rickshaws.
Festival bonanza
Patna: In view of increase in demand from the consumers for consumer products in the festive season, Corporation Bank has come out with Grand Festival Bonanza of loans for home, vehicle and other consumer products. The offer is valid for four months till January 2014.
Bank schemes
Patna: Punjab National Bank announced a series of new schemes at the onset of the festive season for retail loans by way of offering full waiver of processing fee on housing, car, two- wheeler and personal loans for the purchase of consumer durables.
New charge
Patna: Cabinet secretary Brajesh Mehrotra on Wednesday assumed additional charge of secretary of Governor D. Y. Patil. He replaced Sudhir Kumar Rakesh, who was transferred on Tuesday.
Appointment
Patna: Amarnath Jha, an engineer of 1980 batch of Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineer, on Wednesday took charge as the new chief signal and telecom engineer of East Central Railway. He was holding the same post in Allahabad of North Central Railway zone.
Railway facilities
Patna: Assistant general manager Ajay Shukla and chief commercial manager Mehboob Rab of East Central Railway on Wednesday chaired a meeting of all five divisional commercial managers at zonal headquarters. In the meeting, Shukla emphasised on improving the services for passengers, facilities on railway stations and food quality in trains.
Media sops
Patna: Transport minister Brishin Patel on Wednesday said the government would take the matter of providing more facilities to the media representatives. While meeting a delegation of Patrakar Kalyan Manch, Patel said those working at villages and block levels would be given special preference.
Special trains
New Delhi (PTI): The railways have made elaborate arrangements to clear extra rush of traffic for the festival season during October-November. At least 4,000 additional trips of special trains have been planned for passengers travelling to Bihar, Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Jammu, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The special services include 20 trains with reserved AC coaches, 11 unreserved trains and 25 superfast like trains have been planned by all the zonal railways.
