Murder heat on in-laws

Gopalganj: A married woman was allegedly tortured to death on Thursday night at Pakari Srikant village under the jurisdiction of Uchkagaon police station. The deceased, Girija Devi of Ahirauli village in Kushi Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh was married to Harikesh Yadav of Pakari Srikant village 11 years ago.

Sources said since the time of marriage, Girija was constantly tortured and tormented and was not treated for illness.

Goons in net

Patna: Six hardcore criminals, involved in serious criminal cases were arrested on Friday. The criminals were nabbed from near the Law College Ghat area under the jurisdiction of Sultanganj police station.

Chhapra: In recognition of selfless contribution to different social causes, Pravin Kumar, an MA student, department of economics, JP University was awarded Indira Gandhi NSS Volunteer Award 2012-2013 by President Pranab Mukherjee recently.

Eye on fair

Chhapra: Divisional forest officer Ganesh Kumar on Friday said the environment and forests department was keeping a close watch on elephants having been brought to Sonepur fair this year.

BJP reply

Patna: The BJP on Friday defended its decision to felicitate some of its MLAs in Agra rally of the party. Party spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha said the party felicitated its MLAs and not criminals and there was nothing wrong in it.

Bank trip

Patna: Anil Kumar Bhalla, the general manager of Bank of India, visited Muzaffarpur and Patna zones of the bank during his visit to the state.

Jewellery offer

Patna: The Bailey Road showroom of Tanishq in the city has come up with a special offer under which it is giving a free gold pendant free on every purchase of 10gm of gold jewellery or diamond jewellery worth Rs 8,000. A showroom press note on Friday said the offer would be available till November 25.
