RPF imposter held with drug

Patna: A person who used to pose as a Railway Protection Force (RPF) commandant was arrested late on Sunday night. Pramod Kumar Singh, allegedly involved in drug trafficking, was picked up from the Chiriyatand bridge area. Patna SSP Manu Maharaj on Monday said a police team stopped at auto-rickshaw and found Singh on it. The man started to threaten the patrol party when the cops said that they had to frisk him and his belongings.

“The man was not cooperating with the police and was brought to the Gandhi Maidan police station. His belongings were checked and one quintal of marijuana packed in a black plastic sheet, was recovered. The police also recovered two badges of the RPF, two stars, a belt with RPF written on it, two khaki uniforms apart from a mobile phone and sim card. During questioning, he said that he used to go to Guwahati on train and bring marijuana and then sell the same to many people and dealers at a high price in Patna,” the SSP said.

Hindi lecture in bank

Patna: Union Bank of India organised a workshop on Hindi for its employees on Monday where regional head S.K. Mahapatra and chief manager S.S. Yadav addressed.

Patna: Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, Amhara, organised a workshop on robotics in which students showed a keen interest and exhibited their skills in the field.

Cancer care

Patna: Mahavir Cancer Sansthan director J.K. Singh has been elected as national president of Cancer Care India. There are 35 associations/organisations from different states, which are working under the umbrella of Cancer Care India for cancer awareness, education, prevention and financial support to poor cancer patients of the country.

Job course

Patna: Members of All India Students’ Association on Monday staged a protest on the university premises demanding recognition for the postgraduate vocational courses. An AISA media note said there was complete anarchy in the university as the vocational courses were being run with permission of chancellor’s office.

Test results

Patna: Around 10,614 contractual teachers who had appeared in teachers’ ability test conducted by state education department on October 19 failed to clear it. The number of successful candidates who cleared the test is 32,833. Releasing the teachers’ ability test, education minister P.K. Shahi on Monday said those candidates who have failed to clear the test this time would be get another opportunity to clear the test. However, the candidates who failed to clear the examination for second time would lose their jobs.

Karate camp

Patna: Indian Martial Art Academy organised a one-day state karate camp on the banks of the Ganga on Monday. The chief guest of the camp was black belt holder national gold medallist and president Janyuva Pragatisheel Morcha Rajeev Ranjan Singh.

Law entrance

Patna: Bihar Institute of Law, Patna, on Monday published the results of entrance test for admission to three-year LLB course. An institute media note said the test was conducted for filling the vacant seats.

Conference

Patna: The 28th national conference of All India Students’ Federation would be held from November 28 to 30 in Hyderabad.
