Goons open fire, snatch Rs 4 lakh
Jehanabad (PTI): Three armed criminals on Wednesday looted Rs 4 lakh from a businessman near Jhunati village under the jurisdiction of Parasbigha police station in Jehanabad district, police said.
The motorcycle-borne three criminals stopped Parveen Sah, who was on way to Gaya main market with Guddu Sah and Shankar Sah, to purchase material for his grocery shop.
The trio opened fire on them and snatched Rs 4 lakh from the businessman after injuring one of them. The injured has been referred to Patna Medical Collage Hospital where his condition is said to be stable, the police said.
Scheme demand
Patna: The BJP on Wednesday demanded launch of a free laptop distribution scheme for senior school students and enhancement in the money given under the chief minister's cycle scheme from the existing Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,500. Party leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi raised this point in a press statement issued on Wednesday.
Meet venue
Patna: The venue of the BJP women's cell working committee meeting has been changed. A party press note said the meeting would now be held in Patna on December 14. Earlier, the meeting was to be held at Darbhanga.

Food target
Patna: The state government set a target of procuring 30 lakh metric tonnes of paddy this year. Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Wednesday issued a statement saying 23 lakh metric tonnes of paddy would be procured through primary agriculture credit societies and the remaining by the state food corporation.
Home guard event
Patna: A cultural programme was organised atthe Home Guards Training Centre at Anandpur Bihta. Home guard jawans also presented a rehearsal of the foundation day function, an official press note said.
Minister plea
Patna: The food and consumer protection minister, Shyam Rajak, on Wednesday urged farmers not to go by rumours regarding procurement of paddy. He said the procurement was going on at a slow pace as the moisture content in paddy was high and it would be procured after moisture-level comes down to 17 per cent.

Agitation
Patna: All India Students’Association (Aisa) on Wednesday demanded suspension of the Bhagalpur district magistrate, the superintendent of police, and payment of compensation to the family members of the student who was allegedly hit by a police vehicle. Aisa also demanded immediate closure of the police station on the premises of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University.

Patna: The two-day meeting of Bharatiya Sant Sabha concluded on Wednesday. Participants were urged to spread the religious and cultural values among the youths of the country.
