Paper racket busted
Patna: Four persons were arrested from Phulwarisharif on the charge of leaking question papers of the written test for the recruitment of firemen in the state services.
Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said a police team raided a restaurant in Khoja Imali locality and nabbed Harendra Rai, Shivendra Sharan Singh, Vivek Kumar and Dinesh Kumar. Question papers, answer sheets, eight cellphones, six SIM cards and receipts of money deposited in bank were seized during the raid.

Patna: The state government has notified the creation of Dagarua police station under the jurisdiction of Purnea district to maintain law and order, a notification issued by the home (police) department said.

Patna: A high court bench of Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh on Monday dismissed a petition challenging the appointments of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and chief minister Nitish Kumar. The bench passed the direction on a petition filed by advocate Harendra Pratap Singh.

Patna: Ad hoc additional sessions judge Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday sentenced 15 persons, including Krishnadev Yadav, a resident of Deepkula village, to life imprisonment in connection with an attempt to murder.

Patna: Judicial magistrate Rashmi Prasad on Monday sentenced one Vivek Gupta to a year in jail in connection with a cheque dishonour.
